A worldwide group, a local potluck, and an article in the Bell!

Hello Joyful Cooks,

We have a new member in our email circle, Paula Profeta. Welcome, Paula! Please let us know your place on the planet so we can add your spot to our map. Maybe this is a good time to reassure all the shy ones----telling us your town, state and/or country won't allow anyone to send mail, knock on your door, or whatever. It's just fun to see where we all are, all over the Earth. There are 136 of us now, connected through this mailing list and our shared enthusiasm for good food.

This week's new recipe comes from Sigrid here in Portland. It's the latest version of the memorable Chocolate Cherry Cake/Pie she brought to our Summer Potluck in the park:
Vegan, Gluten-free Chocolate Cherry Cake/Pie

Yum! Thanks, Sigrid!

A special moment for us----news of our project was recently spread through an article in the Mindfulness Bell, the magazine of Thich Nhat Hanh's Order of Interbeing. The whole issue is focused on climate change. Our article makes the connection between diet and global warming and invites readers to join with us in our exploration of plant-based cooking. There is also an article co-authored by two of us, George in Pennsylvania and John in Texas about their new project, OI Climate Response. Thanks for what you are doing, George and John!

If you would like to get a copy of the magazine (edited by our own Natascha in California) ---contact the Mindfulness Bell at: http://www.mindfulnessbell.org/ Meanwhile, if you would like to read the article about our project, it's posted under Active Discussions (on this page, just below the map.)

Portland people, our Fall Potluck is just around the corner----a week from today! Do let us know your plans if you haven't already. Here are the details:

Fall Potluck, Saturday, Nov. 8, 6PM
Please bring a plant-based dish to share. If convenient, you might bring your own plate and utensils too.
Linda and John's house------contact Eve: [email protected] for directions.

Happy cooking,
Eve
