Calling for holiday recipes

Our circle is growing-----a warm welcome to Joyce Davies in Burpengary, Queensland, Australia and Anna Berkowitz in California! There are 145 of us now, ready to help each other in our exploration of plant-based cooking. Everyone----your thoughts, questions and discoveries are most welcome---do send them in.

This week's new recipe is the dish Linda made for our November potluck, Soft Polenta, Delicata Squash Rings, and Moroccan Olive Pesto:

There are a few other new items on our website, too. I revised the Pistachio Sweet Pea Torte recipe to make it easier (it's a great recipe---we had it for Thanksgiving and will have it again for Christmas dinner.) It is served with sour cream---any vegan sour cream would do but the recipe that came with the torte is especially good. I named it Silken-Tofu Sour Cream and gave it a place of its own in our Condiments collection. And----I added Bryanna's Yeast Gravy, a recent discovery from one of Bryanna Clark Grogan's cookbooks. It's made with nutritional yeast. You can find all of these things on our home page under Newest Recipes: http://mindfulcooking.org/

While you are there, you could look over at the Active Discussions, which Susan here in Portland made more active with three new comments on a number of things. Feel free to chime in!

And then, while you are still there, you could go up and click on the map and find Burpengary. Our map is as close as we can get to a group picture. If I don't have your town on the map, let me know and I'll be glad to put a pinpoint there. If you are willing to have your name, even just your first name, connected to your town, it makes it just that much easier to visualize the virtual potluck group we have become. I hope you will have fun zooming around the map and imagining us all.

I heard from Christel in Germany this week. Knowing that many of us are thinking of Thich Nhat Hanh in his time of illness, she sent photos of his retreat in Germany in 2012. The second time I looked at all these photos I had the audio on and discovered that I could hear the music:

Christel also sent news of a "Big Gift"--- For all smoothie-lovers, free recipes imbedded in a video- guidance from Sergei Boutenko. : ) Christel

Portland people, we have a date for our Winter Potluck-----as soon as you get your 2015 calendar, I hope you will mark the date: Saturday, January 31. I'm already looking forward to it! I just bought several copies of "Cowspiracy" which I'll be happy to lend to anyone who is interested.

This would be a good time to share your favorite holiday recipes----I'll be watching my inbox with anticipation!

Happy cooking,

Eve
