"Here is a very easy recipe from Happy Herbivore. I used kidney beans instead of black beans."-Christel
430 g 15 ounces black or kidney beans, drained and rinsed
30 ml2 tbsp ketchup
15 ml1 tbsp mustard
15 ml1 tbsp garlic powder
15 ml1 tbsp onion powder
79 ml1/3 cup instant oats
Preheat the oven to 400 F ( in Germany I used 200°C ). Grease a cookie sheet or line with parchment paper and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, mash kidney beans with a fork until mostly pureed but still some half beans and bean parts are left. Stir in condiments and spices until well combined. Then mix in oats.
Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into thin patties. Bake for 7 minutes, Carefully flip over and bake for another 7 minutes, or until crusty on the outside.
The first time I ate them in a quick meal together with sweet potatoes (chipped and cooked in vegetable broth with spring onions for 10 minutes ).Next day I simply ate them cold. But then they need some topping, like ketchup or sweet chili sauce. It is probably possible to prepare them with fresh garlic and onions (chopped into small pieces and cooked a bit in vegetable broth in the pan before adding them to the burger-dough.)
