New people and a summer potluck

Our circle is growing! Anne Marie Scott is joining us from Dublin, Ireland, Ria van Roekel from Oudewater, Netherlands, and Sally Williams here in Portland. Sally let me know she and her husband John "became 'nutritarians' fairly recently (as of last November). Seems easier once one is retired and has time for delving in to new cooking realms. John and I plan and cook our meals as a team, which makes the learning process most enjoyable. Campbell, Esselstyn, Fuhrman, MacDougal, and Sroufe are among our favorite authors. We are looking forward to exploring the many possibilities offered by your website! " Welcome, Anne Marie, Ria and Sally! I hope we'll hear more about all your kitchen adventures.

This week's new recipe is a wonderful cake invented by Lucy here in Portland. I got to enjoy it when she made it in July, using lots of raspberries and chopped plums. She's sure any fruit would work. Portland people, our Summer Potluck is this Saturday, August 22, 6PM. Anyone coming through town who would like to join us, just send me an email and I'll tell you the details. We are planning to be out in the garden this time, where it is always shady and usually breezy. I have a DVD of Cowspiracy ready to lend out. If you haven't seen it and are curious, or if you have seen it and would like to show it to friends, here is your chance. I'll have it at the potluck.

At our potlucks we always post a world map with stickers on it showing where we all are. There will be about a dozen of us gathering in Portland but we know we are only a small part of this project. We will be thinking of all of you out there ---- in Oudewater and Dublin and towns and cities too many to mention, in 14 countries large and small. How wonderful that we found each other!
