From Justina:
An excellent tip for extending the life of these precious little gems that we call berries. Here you go –
Wash them with vinegar. When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar (white or apple cider probably work best) and ten parts water. Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted the taste of vinegar is likely not noticeable) and put in the fridge. Apparently the vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit. Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries may go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft. So stock up on these little treasures, knowing they'll stay fresh as long as it takes you to eat them.
From Betsy:
Today I got more berries and will just rinse and freeze and use later for a berry sorbet or whatever you call it. That along with the vegan chocolate sauce topped with toasted coconut/walnuts make a terrific dessert.-betsy
