Three Sisters and more

.... Portland, first Linda's Native American Three Sisters Stew. The Native Americans planted the "three sisters" together: corn for tall stalks, beans to climb up them, and squash to shade the ground. Here they are together in one pot:

and here are two desserts to choose from (or do as we did and have both)---Susan's tasty Apple Pie Bites and Margaret's Chocolate Avocado Mousse:

Several of you sent messages this week. Christel in Germany told me about an online "plant-based professional certification course" intended for professional cooks and anyone else with a serious interest. The course is designed by lead instructor, Chad Sarno, a chef known for, among other things, developing Whole Foods Market's Healthy Eating Program. The course starts in January:

Betsy in California sent a couple of recipes, which I will post before long, and an irresistible book suggestion:
...if you ever get a chance to look at a copy of Vegan Chocolate by Fran Costigan, be sure you have eaten a full meal so you won't eat the book.
(I immediately reserved it at the library.)

Lara in Ashland liked seeing our potluck photo: What a great picture of a group of very beautiful, happy, healthy vegetarians!! And some good recipes!! Always enjoy hearing from you. Happy Thanksgiving!! Love, Lara

and Alison in New Hampshire made me laugh, as she was unable to distinguish my references to "potluck" and "potluck": Thanks so much for the great recipes! Nice photo - but I’m confused… are you hiding the remainder of the 300 people???

Susan in Portland liked the photo too: I must say that Joe did a good job of making us look our best—nice photo. and thanks for the carrot bake recipe

And Joe (our photographer) was pleased to be vindicated in his endorsement of Bob's Red Mill:
... I am delighted to know that you have seen the light. Have you checked the BRM website? Amazing recipes, we could do 5 years’ potlucks on just what they have there today! http://blog.bobsredmill.com/ Peace, Joe
Bob's has hundreds of products. Joe recently discovered their "Whole Grains and Beans Soup" and pronounced it "DELICIOUS!" Hey Joe, how about writing another paragraph about Bob's Red Mill so I can post it on the website?

I'm so fond of this group. Do keep sending your thoughts and your recipes!

Happy cooking,
Eve
