Nutribullets and the "chore" of cooking

Hello Mindful Cooks,

This week we are welcoming two new members to our email circle: Sandra D. is joining us but I don't yet know where she is! Sandra, where are you? Hannah G.is also joining us, and she lives here in Portland. Hannah and her husband came to our recent potluck and brought that tasty Mung Bean Stew. I made the stew myself this week and it was delicious. Now it has a photo: Mung Bean Stew

Here is another of our potluck dishes, Margaret's Asparagus Delight, just in time for the asparagus season : Asparagus Delight

And here is Christel's Chocolate Pear Pie which I meant to send out weeks ago but somehow lost in the shuffle---so sorry! This sounds so good:http://mindfulcooking.org/recipes/chocolate-pear-pie

I had a funny message from Bex in Portland this week. Her kitchen sounds much too exciting:
Eve!! I say hullo! My reputation as the Kitchen Sploder is intact, yet. [as a member of a team of work at homies, my team often emails me to ask if I've exploded anything recently, as I have managed to forcefully spray coarsely-ground Peet's coffee everywhere, pressurized sweetened condensed milk boiling away in a huge pan of water and so many other things.... ] Tonight I have managed to spray an over-filled nutribullet of hummous alllll over me, the counters, walls and cupboards. NOW my new place feels like home. Sigh. Hope you are well! Bex

I had never heard of a "nutribullet"---had to look that up----but I intend to stay away from this new gadget!

And now I have a question for you. I had a phone conversation with Annie Mahon, who is writing a book on mindful cooking. We talked about mindful cooking from many angles and it occurred to me that all of you might have thoughts to share on that subject.

Annie says: "I'm especially interested in hearing from people who practice mindfulness and also find cooking a chore, or used to find it a chore and how they got through that."

Do you find cooking a chore? Why or why not? Please send me your thoughts and I'll pass them on to Annie, and to all of us in my next letter.

Happy cooking,
Eve
